Beyond the Lemonade Stand
Raise money for a good cause
It’s safe to assume that we have all at one point or another held a lemonade stand to get some extra money. But how can we take that childhood approach to making a few extra bucks for ourselves and instead raise a significant amount of money for a great cause?
• Research and pick a worthwhile cause that means a lot to you.
• When raising money, remember to truly engage your potential donors. Host a theme party and charge admission, plan a field trip and collect a participation fee or host a sport tournament with an entrance fee.
• Go around your house and collect things you haven’t used in a while. Put those items up on eBay or a similar website and donate all proceeds to your cause. Invite friends and businesses around the community to donate items to list as well. Beats having a garage sale!
• Walk-a-thons, car washes and other outdoor activities are perfect for raising money; they allow others to get involved in the action, while getting a workout at the same time!
When raising money, the most important thing is the thought, time and effort you put behind it. Think and plan hard and the experience will automatically be rewarding!
